Atria Valley View is harbored in the rolling hills of Tice Valley. In the foyer, chandeliers and polished gold lamps shed light on a luxurious color scheme of burgundies, greens and browns. Contemporary furniture and decorative wall art continue Atria’s modern look. Although residents enjoy live entertainment on the home’s piano, a pair of attention-grabbing cockatiels often steal the show—altogether delightful entertainment! The area was filled with jovial commotion during our early afternoon visit. Residents laughed and chatted with one another as they observed passersby. Residents’ moderately sized rooms feature enchanting views of the valley. Potted flowers and leafy plants spruce up the balconies. Linen-draped tables with fresh flower arrangements make the dining area an inviting space. On our visit, residents enjoyed a buffet with an appetizing baked salmon. The chef, who trained in Paris, expressed his pride in the kitchen staff, referring to their work as “culinary art.” Donning festive red chef hats, the chef and his assistant rushed to man their posts during our lunchtime visit. The outdoor area features two patios with ample furnishings and shade umbrellas. Spectacular roses, birds of paradise and perennial flowers edge garden seating areas. A planter in the garden allows residents to show off their green thumbs.A major highlight at Atria is the “Engage Life” program, a fun-filled activity schedule that allows residents to choose from over two hundred activities every month! As part of the admission process, residents fill out questionnaires that explore past and current interests. Educational seminars, museum trips, cooking demonstrations and card games are some of the house favorites. Residents enjoy frequent visits from local performers as well. Atria’s activity program is a social butterfly’s dream!Participation is the backbone of this community; we noted staff and residents communicating openly with one another. After deciding to leave his home of fifty years, one resident, Axel, joined the Atria Valley View community, knowing he could make a happy home for himself. As the chosen “goodwill ambassador” of the house, Axel encourages new residents who need help adjusting to the environment. Expressing the staff’s appreciation of Axel’s contributions, our tour guide candidly spoke: “Axel is awesome! We love him.”
